What independent testing reveals

Sean Ogle liked Mevo Gen2’s portable design, customisable practice views and improved connectivity. It offers plenty to explore for golfers who enjoy working with their data. His test also showed why careful levelling matters, with some indoor spin discrepancies and occasional missed short putts worth considering.

Read the detailed findings and test limitations

The indoor comparison was informal rather than a recorded accuracy study. The report did not include a completed simulator test; it also noted occasional connection interruptions in the software used at the time.

This is one reviewer’s experience with the tested unit and conditions; it is not a guarantee for every course or golfer.

Why this score: 91/100

Research-based editorial assessment of published specifications, usability, ownership costs and value. This model has not been independently tested by Golf Gear Lab.

What it is

Mevo Gen2 was announced by FlightScope on 4 August 2025 and replaces the Mevo+, which FlightScope now describes as end-of-run stock. It combines 3D Doppler radar with synchronised image processing (FlightScope calls this Fusion Tracking) and works indoors and outdoors.

The headline changes against the Mevo+ are the price, which fell by close to half at launch, and a 6-hour battery with USB-C charging. The Mevo+ often needed charging after every session.

Data (FlightScope list)18 parameters: carry, roll, total distance, ball speed, vertical and horizontal launch angle, spin rate, spin axis, apex height, flight time, lateral landing, club speed, smash factor, angle of attack and shot type, plus putting ball direction and launch speed. An optional Pro Package adds club path, face angle and more.
BatteryAbout 6 hours; USB-C

Space you need

Radar needs depth. Published guidance places the unit about 8 ft (2.4 m) behind the ball, with at least 8 ft (2.4 m) from ball to screen and 13 ft (4.0 m) recommended for the best spin and shot-shape readings. That means a total room depth of about 21 ft (6.4 m) recommended, or roughly 16 ft (4.9 m) at a squeeze, with about 10 ft (3.0 m) of width and 9 ft (2.7 m) of ceiling. For shorter rooms, a side-on camera unit is usually the easier fit.

Indoors, FlightScope requires metallic dots on the ball or Titleist RCT balls for accurate spin readings. See our indoor launch monitor space database to compare it with other models.

Who it may suit, and who should look elsewhere

Worth a look if

You practise outdoors as well as at home, have a deep garage or garden room, and want simulator courses without an ongoing subscription.

Look elsewhere if

Your room is short behind the ball (see the Square Golf), or you want a simpler, cheaper radar unit such as the Garmin R10. Early coverage also notes the FS Golf app can feel dated at first.

Alternatives to consider

Questions buyers ask

Does the Mevo Gen2 need a subscription?

FlightScope states there are no required subscriptions. Third-party simulators such as GSPro and Awesome Golf have their own costs.

How much room does the Mevo Gen2 need?

It sits about 2.4 m (8 ft) behind the ball, so measure the full depth from the back wall to the screen, not just the hitting area.

Does it work for left-handed golfers?

Yes. It sits behind the golfer rather than beside the ball, so left- and right-handers can share it without moving it.

Mevo Gen2 or Mevo+?

The Gen2 replaces the Mevo+. It launched at close to half the price and adds a 6-hour battery with USB-C charging.
