Simple, practical gift ideas

Under, the tech gifts we recommend are:

Under and stocking fillers: none of the golf technology we have assessed costs under so we do not recommend gadgets at that price. For smaller budgets, our practical Callaway gifts start at: golf balls, gloves, a towel and a winter umbrella. A lesson voucher from their club professional or a range-ball card also works well.

Small practical golf-tech gifts

Choose an accessory for equipment they already own. These are optional extras, with ownership requirements shown at the retailer.

Garmin S62 spare charging/data cable

A spare or replacement cable for an Approach S62 owner. Check the watch model and USB connection before ordering; a new watch already comes with a charging cable.

JJC golf swing phone support

For recording practice swings with a separate phone. Check the phone or case mounting requirements and whether the selected tripod or ground-spike configuration suits your practice surface.

Gifts for junior golfers

The Garmin Approach J1 is a proper golf watch made for young golfers, with junior features such as Personal Par and tee advice that can be switched off as they improve. For a younger or newer golfer on a smaller budget, the Bushnell Phantom 3 is simple and clips to a bag.

Christmas delivery and returns

  • Order early: retailers publish their own last order dates for Christmas delivery each December. Aim to order by late November so there is time for a delay or an exchange.
  • Check stock: each pick on this page shows today’s live price where a retailer has it in stock; if it says “no live price today”, it may be out of stock, so choose the in-stock alternative shown.
  • Check what they own: a second watch is rarely welcome. Already has a watch? Give a laser, and the other way round.

Waiting for Black Friday (27 November 2026), or want to spread the cost? See golf tech deals and paying monthly.

Start with the golfer, then the budget

The best gift fits how they play, and does not duplicate something they already own.

Three questions to ask before you buy

What do they already own?

Most regular golfers already have a watch or a laser. If they have a watch, a laser complements it, and the reverse is also true. A launch monitor or trolley rarely duplicates anything.

Where will they use it?

Rear-mounted radar launch monitors (Garmin R10, MLM2PRO, Mevo Gen2) need about 14–17 ft of depth indoors. Side-on units (Square Golf, SkyTrak ST MAX) suit shorter rooms, but must be moved for left-handed golfers. Trolleys must fit the car trunk.

Will it cost them more later?

Some devices unlock features through subscriptions: Rapsodo Premium and Garmin Golf, for example. Shot Scope and the Mevo Gen2 have none. A surprise running cost can spoil a good present.

Still unsure? The Find a product assessment → asks a few quick questions and suggests a product. Buying a watch? See our golf watch gift guide.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good golf tech gift under?

The Bushnell iON Elite watch (90/100) and the Bushnell Phantom 3 handheld (87/100) are simple to use and need no subscription. The Shot Scope V5 watch is sometimes on offer at and the Shot Scope LM1 is a fun practice gadget.

Is a launch monitor a good Christmas present?

Yes, if the golfer practices regularly and has somewhere to use it. Check room depth for rear-mounted radar units such as the Garmin R10 or MLM2PRO, and check whether the golfer will need a subscription for the features they want.

GPS watch or rangefinder: which makes the better gift?

A watch is easier to live with and needs no aiming, which suits most golfers. A laser gives the exact distance to the flag and suits better players who already know the course. If you are unsure, a watch is the safer gift.

When should I order golf gifts for Christmas?

Order by early December, and check each retailer’s last Christmas delivery date and its returns window. Ask for a gift receipt, so the golfer can swap for a model they prefer.

Are rangefinders with slope legal in competitions?

Only with slope switched off. Models such as the Bushnell A1-Slope, Pro X3+ and Garmin Z82 let you turn it off, with an external indicator that shows it is off. Check the competition’s local rule.

Which golf gifts need a subscription?

Most do not. Shot Scope watches and handhelds, the Bushnell iON Elite and Phantom 3, and Square Golf work without one. Rapsodo’s simulator features need Premium, and some Garmin extras need a Garmin Golf membership.

How we choose

We pick gifts that are easy to use, useful every round and good value, from products we have researched. Where a product has a GGL Score, it comes from the same weighted system we use across the site: performance 30%, value 25%, ease of use 15%, features 15%, reliability 10%, support 5%.

Our scores are research-based editorial assessments of features, usability, ownership costs and value. Each review explains its evidence and trade-offs; a score does not imply controlled hands-on testing.
