Portable monitor with a permanent enclosure

Garmin R50 SIG10: US Package Planning Guide

A portable monitor with a built-in screen suits golfers who want native course play without managing a separate gaming PC. The fixed SIG10 enclosure still needs a permanent footprint.

Choose R50 if you want a simpler everyday setup

A sensible shortlist for golfers who value an on-device display and the ability to move the monitor. Check the available floor space beside the hitting position.

Do not treat a portable monitor as a portable room: the enclosure and projector remain installation decisions.

Reconsider if left- and right-handed players will alternate frequently: confirm how the unit moves between positions and whether both positions have enough floor space.

Core configuration and choices

Listed core itemsSelect or confirm separately
R50 monitor, carry case, charging cable and club stickers; SIG10 enclosure, selected hitting mat and landing turf.Choose the mat and projector/accessory options explicitly. Native Home Tee Hero course play needs the appropriate Garmin Golf membership; a third-party simulator route requires separate compatibility, computer and licence checks.

Room requirements

SIG10 frame: 10 ft 10 in wide × 8 ft 4 in high × 5 ft deep. Those dimensions describe the enclosure, not the whole playing area.

Measure the finished space, including mat height, screen stand-off, ceiling fixtures and the swing of your tallest golfer. Check both handednesses where relevant. Obtain the exact monitor installation drawing and projector throw requirements.

Software and ongoing costs

Native play or a PC-based alternative

Home Tee Hero runs on the R50 itself; course play requires Garmin Golf membership. Confirm the current US monthly or annual fee with Garmin before ordering. Third-party course software is a separate purchase and may require a compatible PC.

Build an itemised budget

Separate the selected hardware from PC, projector, mounts, cables, installation, tax and delivery. Ask which items are included and which are optional. Record first-year software and later renewals separately; do not assume that a bundled trial removes ongoing costs.

Your next step: check the room, then request a complete quote

Use the room checker first. Then send the supplier the following brief so the quoted configuration matches your space and intended play.

Your supplier brief

My finished room is ___ ft wide × ___ ft deep × ___ ft high. The tallest golfer is ___; we play right-handed / left-handed / both. My total installed budget is $___, including tax. I want ___ resolution and ___ course software. Please itemize the monitor edition, enclosure, mat, projector and mount, PC, installation, delivery and software renewals, and confirm the proposed hitting position and room fit.

  1. Send a measured room plan with obstructions and usable ceiling height.
  2. Specify monitor edition, mat, enclosure and desired display resolution.
  3. Request the exact projector, PC specification and software licences.
  4. Confirm warranty, returns, delivery scope and installation responsibilities.

Match this to your room idea

A permanent enclosure is a candidate for a dedicated garage, basement or spare-room studio after measurement. If the room must return to parking or everyday family use, investigate a retractable setup separately; a fixed SIG enclosure is not automatically a shared-room solution.
